General
Kingfisher Lodge is a 2 bedroom spacious luxury lodge in a beautiful lakeside setting located in the heart of the Vale of Pewsey, Wiltshire. The lodge is all on one level inside so ideal for couples and family groups or for those with limited mobility. Ramp access is available to the side of the lodge. The bedroom layouts are flexible and can be configured as 2 x king size beds or twin beds in each room or a mixture of both. The master bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom and there is also a family bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen provides you with all the facilities you would expect for your stay and the spacious open plan living and dining area allows you to fully relax and unwind. The high ceilings and patio doors create a feeling of space and enhance your living space. This openness further extends out onto your outdoor veranda which overlooks the pond. Enjoy your morning cuppa as you watch the swans gracefully glide across the water.
Located at the end of a row of 3 lodges you are flanked by private woodland on one side for that extra privacy and seclusion. The private lake is a short walk away and you may also encounter a variety of other wildlife as you stroll around the 3 acre site. The Kennet and Avon Canal is also only a short 5 minute uphill walk from Willowbank Lodges and it opens up a variety of activities such as fishing, kayaking, cycling or strolling along the towpath to a canal side pub for a lazy afternoon lunch.
The Vale of Pewsey is an outstanding area of natural beauty and provides a mixture of rolling countryside to explore and pretty towns and villages to visit along the way. Pewsey is the nearest village where you can pick up a few supplies but heading north to the market town of Marlborough is certainly worth an afternoon stroll around and explore. It has a pretty high street full of independent shops and eateries and if you are visiting in July you may be able to join in some of the activities of the Marlborough Jazz festival. Another popular place to visit is the historic and architectural market town of Devizes. It has over 500 listed buildings and is also a good location to stop and marvel at the 29 locks of the Caen Hill flight. On a nice day walk the full flight and stop at the café for a refreshment. Alternatively, head back into the town and take a tour of the Wadworth Brewery and sample their awarding winning ale. You may even spot the Shire Horses around the town as they are still used today for delivering ale to the local pubs. After your busy day return to your lodge and enjoy the evening sun on your veranda as you dine alfresco and enjoy the peace and tranquillity that surrounds you.
