General
The Hay Barn is a cosy holiday cottage located at New Mills Marina on the Upper Peak Forest Canal, in the foothills of the Peak District. The property has been recently restored whilst maintaining its rich history and period features.
Inside The Hay Barn there is a double bedroom on a mezzanine floor which offers impressive views across the Upper Peak Forest Canal and surrounding hillside. The ground floor has a dining and living area, plus a kitchen and bathroom with toilet, wash basin and shower. There is also a comfortable leather bed settee should two more people wish to stay. The property also benefits from a multi fuel stove for cosy evenings and a small supply of logs, kindling and coal is included for your stay - additional supplies can be bought from the marina. Outside the property, there is a BBQ and outdoor seating area.
The town of New Mills is set in an area of spectacular natural beauty, standing above a natural rocky gorge known as ‘The Torrs’ where the River Sett joins the River Goyt. Locally there is a great range of restaurants, cafés, pubs and takeaways. During your stay, it’s well worth taking time to explore the surrounding area. The spa town of Buxton is particularly lovely.
