Ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway, Turbine House is situated just a few hundred yards from the shoreline of picturesque Loch Caolisport, next to a lovely stone bridge which spans the peaceful babbling waters of Ellary Burn. Located in a fantastic spot with views directly across the loch towards rolling hills and far off mountains, Turbine House is set in a secluded area bordered by lush greenery and woodland. Carefully renovated, this cosy holiday property is the perfect choice for anyone who loves to walk and can appreciate the flourishing local flora & fauna; you only need to head along the road for a chance to see wildlife such as deer, foxes and red squirrels and closer to the water you might even be lucky enough to spot otters or seals whilst you investigate the rock pools dotted along the coastline, collect sea glass, paddle or take a swim in the crystal clear waters.
A great choice all year round, Turbine House has floor to ceiling French doors along one whole side of the sitting room and numerous windows to let the outdoors in. With a spacious feel to the property and great views over the furnished deck (great for dining al fresco or enjoying a wee dram in the evening) toward the burn and gardens beyond, this really is a wonderful location for couples or singles to get away from it all. The open plan living/ dining room / kitchen area is comfortable and modern with efficient under-floor heating throughout. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, electric oven & hob, microwave and fridge/freezer; plus there is cosy sofa seating and a dining table which is perfect for dinner a deux. There is a generous double bedroom and a bathroom with a large walk-in shower. SKY Freeview TV and DVD provided. Wifi available. Free parking in a layby next to the stone bridge, a short walk from the property. Turbine House is situated near the harbour and is ideal for anyone with a boat. The property is also close to a beach for use of canoes and paddle boards if you wish to bring them with you.
A self-catering holiday here offers an interesting and relaxing location. The shoreline is made up of numerous small inlets, little islands and lovely sandy beaches. Located in the midst of two large private estates, covering over 15,000 acres, there are lots of great walks, pretty glens and many excellent trout lochs to discover. Cyclists and mountain bikers will be spoilt for choice on the quiet roads, many tracks and winding trails. Keen anglers can enjoy fly fishing nearby at Lochead Burn which has salmon and sea trout in abundance. Also, as there is no light pollution here it is the absolutely perfect location for star-gazing. Turbine House is dog friendly, so you can bring your four legged friends along too and make this a truly unforgettable getaway.
There is a small shop for provisions, a low-key restaurant and relaxing lounge bar at the Castle Sween Holiday Park, about 5 miles down the road if you’d like a meal out (takeaway service is available) or a little further away (approx. 30 minutes) the town of Lochgilphead has a decent size supermarket. For a scenic drive, the pretty town of Tarbert has quite a few shops and cafes, plus some art galleries and restaurants overlooking its picturesque historic harbour. Whilst you’re there you can also visit Robert the Bruce's 14th century castle which sits above the harbour town. Heading further north you can explore the Crinan Canal and the village of Tayvallich where you might be lucky enough to spot some beavers. From Crinan, why not go on a boat trip to visit the amazing Corryvreckan Whirlpool which is situated between Jura and Scarba, or a longer drive will take you to the busy seaside town of Oban where you can sample the freshest of seafood (that day’s catch) right there on the docks. A visit to the lovely white sandy beach at Kilmory is also highly recommended during your stay.
The Ellary and Castle Sween Estates are located at Lochgilphead, Argyll on the Scottish West Coast between Lochs Sween and Caolisport.
