Malabar Chalet sits in a peaceful location a short distance from the shoreline of picturesque Loch Caolisport, very close to the mouth of Lochead Burn which is very popular with anglers. One of four similar properties, each with a stretch of open land between them, Malabar Chalet is positioned in a really fantastic spot with views directly across the water towards rolling hills and far off mountains. Ideal for small family groups, anglers, birdwatchers or guests who wish to bring pets, this bright and airy single storey property is an excellent choice all round. For those who love to walk and appreciate local flora & fauna, you only need to head along the hill road for a chance to see wildlife such as deer, foxes and red squirrels. Closer to the water, you might even be lucky enough to spot otters or seals whilst you investigate the many rock pools that are dotted along the coast, fish in Lochead Burn, collect sea glass, paddle or take a swim in the crystalline, fresh waters of the Loch.

Malabar Chalet sleeps up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms; a double and a twin room. This spacious, light and bright holiday chalet has large and comfortable living room with amazing views from its entire wall of full-length windows to the front of the property, overlooking the head of the loch and surrounding countryside. A patio door leads to a furnished veranda, which is the perfect place to enjoy your morning cuppa or partake in a wee dram during the evenings; sitting back to admire the starry skies. The well-equipped kitchen includes an oven & hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, plus a dining table with seating for 4 people. The recently updated family bathrooms has a very generously sized walk-in shower, a WC and wash basin. A picnic table is supplied on the grassy outside area (perfect for BBQs) and there is plenty of space for children or pets to run around and play. Private parking sits alongside the chalet. Sky Freeview TV/DVD and free Wifi provided.

A self-catering holiday here offers an interesting and relaxing location for couples, families or a small group of friends. The shoreline is made up of numerous small inlets, little islands and lovely sandy beaches. Located in the midst of two large private estates, covering over 15,000 acres, there are lots of great walks, pretty glens and many excellent trout lochs to discover. Cyclists and mountain bikers will be spoilt for choice on the quiet roads, many tracks and winding trails. Keen anglers can enjoy fly fishing in Lochead Burn which has salmon and sea trout in abundance (a license can be purchased at the office for salmon and trout fishing). As there is no light pollution here it is the absolutely perfect location for star-gazing. Malabar Chalet is dog friendly, so you can bring your four legged friends along too and make this a truly unforgettable getaway.

There is a small shop for provisions, a low-key restaurant and relaxing lounge bar at the Castle Sween Holiday Park, about 5 miles down the road if you’d like a meal out (takeaway service is available) or a little further away (approx. 30 minutes) the town of Lochgilphead has a decent size supermarket. For a scenic drive, the pretty town of Tarbert has quite a few shops and cafes, plus some art galleries and restaurants overlooking its picturesque historic harbour. Whilst you’re there you can also visit Robert the Bruce's 14th century castle which sits above the harbour town. Heading further north you can explore the Crinan Canal and the village of Tayvallich where you might be lucky enough to spot some beavers. From Crinan, why not go on a boat trip to visit the amazing Corryvreckan Whirlpool which is situated between Jura and Scarba, or a longer drive will take you to the busy seaside town of Oban where you can sample the freshest of seafood (that day’s catch) right there on the docks. A visit to the lovely white sandy beach at Kilmory is also highly recommended during your stay.

The Ellary and Castle Sween Estates are located at Lochgilphead, Argyll on the Scottish West Coast between Lochs Sween and Caolisport. Stunning scenery, beautiful mountain ranges, breath-taking lochs, excellent walks, fishing and an abundance of wildlife make this holiday property a beautiful and very memorable place to stay.
