Loch Ness Monster Hunting
Loch Ness is arguably the most famous loch in the world and, thanks to a certain mythical resident, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Scotland.
The loch is the second largest (behind Loch Lomond) in Scotland, and along with the breathtaking scenery on offer, attracts a reported one million visitors a year. The main reason for the Loch’s popularity is of course the world-famous Loch Ness Monster.
The legend of the Loch Ness Monster dates back to the 8th century, and the first modern sighting was 80 years ago – when hotel manageress Aldie McKay reported seeing a ‘beast’ in the Loch.
Of course, ‘Nessie’ is not the only reason to visit, and Loch Ness and the surrounding areas offer plenty for walkers, anglers and pet owners alike.
Loch Ness is located near the large towns of Inverness and Fort William and it serves as a perfect base for highland exploration.
