There are many idyllic waterside cottages, lodges and cosy log cabins that can offer some excellent fishing right on your doorstep. These include access to some of the best rivers, freshwater and sea lochs and canals. The most popular spots include Loch Tay, Loch Awe, Oban, Scottish Highlands and some of the famous salmon & trout rivers.

Fishing tuition, guidance and professional Ghillies may be available to help you enjoy and make the most of your fishing break, though it is sensible to book this in advance. Learning the art of fly fishing can be very satisfying and many get the bug and return year after year!


Depending upon where you are looking to fish, licenses and local permits will be required for certain waters in Scotland. Do look out for seasonal fishing and local bylaws. The salmon season runs from mid January through to November and the brown trout from March to October.
